Hi Jeanne!
the mail you can show is reboreda@gmail.com
OK, this is the story about my voice overin' on
Simon and Simon..
First of all, you should know that in Spain we
speak 4 different languages, depending on the
area where we live, of course, we all speak
Spanish, but on the Barcelona (Catalonia) area
they speak Catalan, a language between Spanish
and French; The basque, which is a very rare language,
nobody knows from where it comes. Basque is spoken
in the Basque country, north of Spain, close to the
French border and Galego, which is my second language.
Galego is the language from Galicia, north of Spain,
close to Portugal. Our language is between Spanish and
Portuguese.
Why do I explain all this long story? Because my voice
over was in Galego for our regional TV network.. this is
as if it were a state channel in US.
I worked since I was 20 years, now I'm 46 in radio and
TV... and I did my first voice acting in June, 1988.
Simon and Simon arrived to the studio on September 88
and they called me to voice over an small character, like
a waiter or something like that. BUT, for some reason, all
the voice actors were very busy at that moment, so after
5 guys who said "no" to that work, the art director said:
"Hey, what if we make an audition to that new guy, that
Carlos and see if he can be the voice actor for AJ Simon?"
So, you see how my life changed in a few hours? Instead
of dubbing a waiter, policeman or small character I had the
chance to dub Mr.Jameson Parker!!! A guest character!!!
The audition worked perfect and I begin the job on September
1988... We had a lot of fun, because Simon and Simon was
that kind of TV series which makes you smile a lot of times,
specially Rick Simon, lets be honest, huh? Anyway, I had a
lot of fun dubbing AJ, who I dubbed a few times later on a
couple of movies.
Jameson Parker was a great oportunity to me and he opened
a lot of doors to my voice acting career; at the present time I
borrow my voice to Bruce Willis, Jeff Bridges, Jeff Daniels, Val
Kilmer, Alec Baldwin and many others...
My favourite episode? Hmmmm... it has been 18 years ago...
but I remember one who AJ pretends to be a Tax Inspector
which was really a crack. Very difficult to dub...
Well, there are a lot of stories, and I will try to remember
more and forward them to you with pleasure..
Have a great day!!
Carlos
